Does any one have any recommendations?

Image quality is the overriding req, and I don't just mean sharpness, but contrast, colour etc as one of my main uses is photo processing.

My vid card is DVI, don't need speakers built in, HDTV capability would be nice (with associated inputs) but not an absolute necessity. Erm, that's it, I think.

Cheers smile

HP w2408h 'Vivid Color' Graham, love mine. Pin sharp, great colours, can be flipped portrait (and the desktop rotates, like the iPhone), and brilliant for photo processing.

I've got a Dell 2407WFP which has great image quality, the only drawback is that it could have better scalling options. However this was corrected by the Dell 2407WFP v4 and the Dell 2408WFP. I guess there must be a Dell 2409WFP by now.

Definately worth taking a look at the top end 24" Dell (240xWFP). I'm not sure how good the entry level 24" is, might be worth a look.

Have you considered Eizo. Effing expensive compared to suggestions already made but they do fulfill your requirements.

For example this 24" seems to fit your requirements to a tee. It will probably set you back more than the rest of your system (>£1300).

I do 2 x 19s at the moment, but I have an SLI set up. I play games reasonably regularly so have taken to leaving it in SLI, which means only one display active, so the second is kind of redundant.

The Eizo is somewhat more than I was planning on spending biggrin

Thanks for the suggestions so far, folks. Plenty to look at there thumbup

Is there a reason noone's recommended the Samsung?

I have no experience of them, but they were on my shortlist.

Not the prettiest about but certainly one of the best.

The Iiyama ProLite B2409HDS-1

I'm about to pick one up next month for just under £200.

True 1080p (1980x1080)
HDMI
HCP
DVI-D
Pivot
20,000:1 contrast
2ms response time

I can also vouch for the quality of Iiyama TFT's. I purchased my first TFT back in 2003 for £800 (18.1"), and I still use it today with one duff pixel which is only visible on black screens. It blows most other LCD's out of the water and it's 6 years old!

Agree here; stunning monitor.
Old now though. It's also got a slow response time in comparison to newer models and I find the colours not to be so vibrant....

I hear this criticism a lot. I can tell you that every photo from the Beijing Olympics from 3 of the main international photo agencies went through the 2408.
That's good to know - certainly sways me a bit given my main requirement. Although as above, I'm also the happy long-time user of an Iiyama. Looking at it right now, in fact, and have had it for about 5 years I think. In fact, I also used to have a 19" CRT of theirs that was superb (different tech, I know, but still).

Choices choices...

Out of interest Nick, where can you get one for under £200, or is that an eBay job? scratchchin

Apologies....I made a mistake. The 22" is €200 and the 24" is €250 which is a little over £200. That's over here in Vienna....

I assumed the prices would be similar in the UK, although I have to admit I haven't looked.
