I have an issue with my new shiny toy - an iTouch - and I wondered if anyone here might know the answer.

I bought it in duty free on the way out to a holiday in Dubai. On arrival I plugged it in to my friend's PC to load up some of his music to listen to while I was there. The iTouch now seems to think it is in Dubai, because every time I try to access iTunes or download any further apps it gives me a 'not in this country, sonny boy' message.

The on-line help is no help at all, and I have tried resetting it (though not deleting all content), does anyone know what to do to convince it that it lives in the UK?

Ta!

There's no such thing as an iTouch, it's called an iPod Touch! wink

As far as your problem goes, you may have to do a full restore. It's simply a case of clicking a button in iTunes and doesn't take very long.

Yes there is, it's the iTouch Children as popularised by Gary Glitter.

Don't think he'll need to do that - it's either his iTunes account being flagged as Dubai, or he used his mate's one.

OP, connect it your PC and iTunes and it should become "yours" (if not automatically, then there's certainly an option somewhere to make it yours). If you set up your own iTunes account on his PC, then you just need to change your country and store preference.

If you don't have an account yet, you can set one up within iTunes. But this way, you will probably lose the songs that were put on there though as it'll think they belong to someone else(ie your mate) - might be wrong on that one.

Although it's slightly different, I moved my account to US, SA and UK stores in order to get hold of some particular apps and was able to resync the Touch without any problems and access the right stores each time.

Thanks for the advice. I can't get it recognised by my itunes account at the moment (which is a UK account I've had for a long time) - anyone know ho to make iTunes 'see' a new ipod?

Have you tried updating to the latest version of iTunes (8.1)? If your installation dates back to before the iTouch was released, you might find it won't recognise it...
