Hi

We currently pay £11pcm for our BT line rental, and get free BT Option 3 broadband thanks to my house mate working for BT.

However, looks like we'll be moving soon and we'll need to get our own phone/broadband package.

A cursory glance at the broadband comparison websites and my head is in a bit of a spin - so many options to chose from!

The area we're looking in doesn't have cable, and most places have 5-6meg broadband. This is fine. We do use it a *lot* though, so need unlimited download.

I was under the impression that you needed a BT line for all ADSL packages? Is this the case, or can other companies supply ADSL/Phone packages over a fixed line?

Any recommendations? Happy to spend a 'bit' more for quality, but not excessive!

Just signed upto O2 today and being a customer on a mobile plan get it for a lot cheaper. They use the same infrastructure as bebroadband who get v.good reviews smile

Whatever you do, do not be fooled into signing upto Tiscali, cheap for a reason.

Unless you use a supplier with LLU you still have to have a BT line and pay rental (£11.25). Beware if you use facilities such as Caller Id as that can be an extra cost if you get a calls and broadband package from a different supplier who uses BT wholesale broadband.
