I'm nothing to do with the company who market them BTW, I just thought it looks an excellent idea

I'd like to see what the resolution looks like first - fantastic idea, but fear without decent quality it would be an expensive "look what I've got" that'd never actually get used.
640x480 @ 50 inches isn't going to be great but if it is from a laptop then it could be ok. They are getting integrated into phones now.How about those visors that simulate a 50-odd inch screen? Basically a pair of goggles with two screens inside. Anyone used or own one? Are they any good?
I like watching TV in bed sometimes but the missus can't sleep well with bright lights from the TV in the room. Perhaps a visor screen thingy might be a worthwhile investment if they're not completely crap!?

Some great suggestions so far, so thanks very much...and please keep them coming!
Yes this will be our first date. She's only young (21 to my 29 years) but I've known her for a couple of years and she's very-much up for trying anything that isn't uber-cultured...hence I think an art gallery wouldn't be appreciated.
The ice rink sounded a good call (if it's still there) as did the Aquarium (is that the big one near the Eye?)
We're catching the train there from another part of the country so well have from 10am to 9pm to get anything/everything done, hence I think a long theatre showing would cut the day up too much. Unfortunately a part of the day has to be given to shopping (she has a present to buy and insists Harrods is the place to get it), but primarily I'd like to do one or two vaguely touristy things (Eye, boat trip, aquarium, etc) and then - at some point - visit a half-decent eating place.
Budget isn't a huge concern although I'm (1) from Yorkshire and hence a bit tight and (2) aware that I don't want to come across as too flash. Perhaps the exception would be our meal which I want to 'get right'...somewhere that sells good, tasty food.
Thanks again,
EYW

As if the whopping screen size wasn't enough, you'll be happy to hear that because of the built-in media player you can leave your laptop at home and save all of your favourite movies to the 1GB of memory built into the Pocket Cinema.
1GB? So "movie", not "movies" would be more accurate.Seem more akin to a pocket photo projector which you can bore your friends and family for hours by showing your 600 holiday snaps of you and the children's 2 weeks on the beach in Corfu.

Christ, some people shouldn't be let out of The Lounge, should they?!
Anyway.. Gadgets..
I went the opposite direction of the big screen, and just bought one of these..
http://www.amazon.co.uk/MIMO-UM-710-Powered-Swivel...
It's a tiny little 7" LCD monitor. Runs solely from a USB port. No power supply or VGA/dvi/hdmi connecters etc required. I think on a PC you can plug in up to 6? And 4 on a Mac (I make do with the 1!)
I find it useful when running full screen applications, but need to keep an eye on something else at the same time. There are a couple of other variants of these mini monitors also.
Yes, you could perhaps get a larger 'normal' monitor for the same price these days. But I liked the neatness and diddiness of this thing. Plus it doesn't tie up any of my monitor output ports on my computer

I've just bought one of these - Pure Siesta iDock
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Siesta-iDock-Clock-Radio-i...

DAB radio, iPod/iTouch/iPhone dock on it, so I can recharge my iphone, play music from the iphone, or using Ord Live stream music from my PC by Wifi to my Phone through the Speakers in the radio. Or any other music/radio app I have on the phone like Radio Box.
Also has USB port and mini USB port for charging other things and upgrades.
