I just had virgin media call me on my mobile offering to change my "Bundle"

A bit of background

I have Virgin Medias 20mb fibre optic broadband (cost me £37 a month), i dont watch that much TV and I have recently cancelled by BT landline as i never used it.

I mainly play online games etc

So anyway the phone call, The lady on the phone offered me a bundle of - 20mb broadband, phone line and TV package for £31 a month (a saving of £6 a month) she put alot of pressure on and was very reluctant to take no for an answer.

So whats the catch i hear you ask, why didnt you snap her hand off.

Well it seemed too good to be true, after further investigation on the virgin media website.

2 things that caught my eye:-

I will have to sign up for another 12month contract (which im not a great fan of doing).

The basic Virgin TV package has the same TV channels as Freeview.. (infact i think its less).

I dont want a house phone due to the nuisance calls that you get.

So how can Virgin Justify charging £37 when i can get more for £31?

They where unwilling to compromise and give me the broadband only for £31 or infact I did mention that if they wanted me to have more for my money (as she stated was the reason for the offer) I would be willing to upgrade to 50mb for free to ease Richards Conscience..

So Virgin offered you more, for less money, and you've got the hump with them?

They want you to have a phone line from them because they think they'll make money out of calls. If you're worried about nuisance calls you don't actually have to plug a phone in you know...

Sounds like they wanted to save you £72 a year, plus give you free TV, in return for signing up to another 12 month contract. Sounds like a good deal to me. I certainly wouldn't be moaning about it.

that is so expensive for a slow connection
I pay about 35 quid for a 160Mbps connection.

As others have said really.. You don't need to plug in the phone, hell you don't even need to use Virgin's TV service..freeview will still be there wink

So you're getting what you want - broadband for £6 less per month.

Virgin - bds aren't they...?

I pay £20 a month for the L tv package (currently on a free XL upgrade for a month) and theyve just sent me a letter saying Im getting a free upgrade to 10mg broadband.

Theyd better get the UFC though or I think I might ditch them.
