Following on from the pointless things you own thread, I got thinking about my collection of remotes, got 6 in total.

Wouldnt mind slimming that down to one, so been looking around the web and this seems like it would do the job.

Does anyone use one? Are they reliable enough? I dont want to have to set it up every other day, and heard some can lose signal or memory somehow. confused

I have been using a "one for all kameleon" for the past 4 or so years and its been briliant. Bought it in Dixons (or Commet) as an impulse buy to stop SWMBO complaining about all the remotes and it has been faultless.

I imagine that there are newer versions of this since, but the basic recomendation of the brand still stands.

Worth mentioning that there has been a new addition to the Pronto family since that last thread.

The new 9300

http://www.pronto.philips.com/index.cfm?id=1695

Replaces the 9200, much better functionality.

Got one of these and is excellent... made out of no breakable parts and bounces well so just the job.

Hi Matt

What would your recommendation be for a universal remote for a budget of £200 max? I only have a TV, video, DVD player, and Freeview box?

I've had one of these for a couple of months now, and very happy with it.

You set up all your devices on your PC, then download the settings to the controller. I've got mine controlling a Sky HD box, Pioneer plasma, AV amp, Squeezebox music player and a DVD player, and everything works exactly how it would on its own remote.

Got the Logitech Harmony 510 it's performed faultless, its mine no one else uses it so I can always find it. But its a boys toy and now I want to upgrade to the Harmony 1100 as mentioned above.

Best feature, macros, press one button it turns on TV, satellite and changes channel to my preferred option.

With that budget you're looking at something from the Harmony range.

Which are pretty good on the whole. Not quite as flexible as the Prontos or as reliable but at a different price point so understandable.

Had a 525 for a couple of years now and no complaints. Not quite as fancy looking as the harmony one but does the job and is very comfortable to hold. Takes a little while to tweek the functions so switching between tasks is faultless (ergo - switching from watching PVR to DVD) but it's all tweekable. So unless you have more than 15 devices you need to control or require colour eye candy and touch screens than you can't go far wrong.

I have a £40 525 and it does everything that I want. See no point in spending more money for functionality that I don't need.

I think its very good for the money and I cant see the Philips being 16x better!
Largely depends on the application as there are many many many things that the H1100 just cant do in comparison.

Its also not 16x times the price. Its six times the price, the 1100 is about £300.

One annoying thing with the Harmony One is that it doesn't have the teletext colour buttons. You can program the soft keys but I wouldn't like that.

I have the Harmony 885 which is bit fiddly to setup but once it's done it's great.

And it's only £85 from Pixmania.

Harmony One (was about £90) really good and also easy to use for those who aren't technical (big WATCH TV button).

Is there an all in one remote with bluetooth so it can be used with a PS3?
