Nope, it says whatever was in the clipboard previously.

try a proper reboot. Mine forgets what I'd previously copied and pastes that sentence. I reckon it's Apple's way of telling us that a loser with an iPhone is still a loser...

I've a 3g with OS 3 if that matters.

My Touch doesn't have a paste option if there's nothing in the buffer, ie after a reboot.

Nope, mine doesn't come up with that, and neither do any of the others in the office that have played along (4 so far).

Off t'internet -

When the iPhone crashes or locks up in a way that prevents the iPhone from responding to the normal iPhone restart procedure, you need to reset the iPhone. Resetting the iPhone is simple.

Reset the iPhone by holding the sleep/wake button at the top right of the device and the home button at the bottom center of the face at the same time. Hold them both until you see the screen go black and the white Apple logo appear. When this happens, you can let go - the iPhone is rebooting.

Resetting the iPhone should not remove or delete any data or settings.

(Resetting the iPhone is also the term used sometimes to mean deleting all content from the iPhone and restoring from a backup.)

The reset process is the same on the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS.

I've tried a couple more times - it works every time. I copy something, reboot the iphone, try to paste what I'd copied and it comes out with that crap. I don't see how mine is the only one....

That's just a standard reboot as far as I'm concerned, and is what I did.

Try copying and pasting what you copy and then reboot. My guess is, if you copy but don't paste it won't save after a reboot. I can't be bothered rebooting to test this.

that's bizarre... It seems permanently stuck on my clipboard now, and I never copied it in the first place. At least now I know it's not Apple having a sly dig.

A "standard" reboot is just holding down the top button and then you get a message to turn off the iPhone. Wait then turn it on again.
