Which touch screen phone?

Ok - This is a "which xxx to get" but for a phone.
I'm due an upgrade in the next couple of months and I need to start considering and researching a new mobile phone.
I like the iPhone. A lot. It appeals to the magpie in me in that it's shiny and sleek and, well, shiny. However, I was thinking whether it is, in this case, the best shiny, sleek phone to get.
(I don't want to get into an iPhone slanging match though)...
I currently have an N95 8Gb which, although is a decent phone - is about the size of a block of flats and I want something a little sleeker.
Any thoughts/opinions out there - have you had an iPhone and decided it was rubbish?
I wonder if this'll be shunted to a different sub-forum....

I like my N97. It's not without it's faults (softwere can be dicky from time to time) but overall it's good and I like and more importantly use it's features.
I chose it because:
The camera is not the best on a phone, but still very good. Good enough to use as your regular camera if you're just a normal "snapper" like me. Holiday pics, nights out, etc. If you're a hobby/pro photographer you can pick holes in it, but then you wouldn't be taking your pictures on a phone anyway.
The 32gig memory means I don't have to worry about carrying an iPod round with me. The Bluetooth Audio is very good for use in the car, when you stop the car, it pauses in the background then automatically starts again when you get back in.
The FM transmitter us useful if you're in someone else's car without BT.
The GPS is pretty good. Very good for walking round a new city. It's fine for car use (Used it to go round europe recently) but it can lose signal/freeze easily.
The proper keyboard is great for emails/longer texts.
I get the impression that the "MK2" version will be fantastic. This is still pretty bloody good though.

I have the Samsung Pixon and I can't fault it for it's touch screen and general quality.
It is slightly smaller than the iPhone but has all the same applications with music player, internet, GPS etc and you have the added bonus that it does have a 8 megapixel camera which takes does take some awesome pictures in all ranges of light.

I like the design of Samsungs, so that's a good plug.

I am using the Hero's older brother, the G1. They are basically the same inside aside from the bero being slimmer, sexier and not having a flip out keyboard. I'd say go for the Hero. I recommend using one of the alternative roms such as Cyanogenmod to make it faster but that will require some geekery you may not want to do yourself.

It's rebooted about ten times today and yes, it's running the very latest firmware.Seems to be a common problem with Sony phones. I'll never have another!
Xperia X2 is out soon along with the Nokia N900 (October if you believe press releases).
Like the look of either though the Nokia is slightly ahead due to it looking slightly better quality and more useful applications.
I like the iPhone but not enough to own one. I played with one in an O2 shop and found the touch screen horrid. I send emails more than texts and my BB Curve is a nicer thing to use due to its keyboard.
