Buying an iPod in Hong Kong

My parents are going to HK soon, and are thinking of buying an iPod while they are there on the assumption that it will be cheaper. Question is, will it really be that much cheaper in HK, and secondly, will there be any issues with compatibility, warrantly, and so on?

I guess that at the current crappy exchange rates it might be more expensive... Tesco seem as cheap as anywhere for them at the moment, plus there's a £10 voucher for tesco direct, and 2% back on clubcard...

When I purchased my last iPod in HK, it was around 2/3 the price of a UK version.

The exhange rate for GBP/HKG has not suffered much at all. It was around HKG14/GBP when I was there 4 years ago, now its HKG12/GBP

Is there a simple way of doing this for techno-numpties like my parents?

Bought mine in HK two years ago. It was cheaper than UK and I got them to throw in a carry case and a few bits & bobs. I went to one of the big stores in the electronics district (their equivalent of Tott Court Road) and that would be my advice, i.e. go to a reputable looking store (think Currys, Comet, Dixons type place) rather than a back-street street market.

The markets do have there place though. I got my genuine gold Rolex there for a fiver !
