Damned BBC Online

I currently don't have an aerial, so I am was trying to watch the news online.

BBC1 is fine until halfway through the news it says.

"Sorry, we can't show you this particular programme for legal reasons, however, this programme is available on your TV"

If they are going to put that flag up, can't they tell me what legal reason it is?

Then it comes back to show me the weather. How very odd?!!

What happened on the news that couldn't be shown to the online public?

I am trying to watch TV again tonight, and this TVcatchup thingy doesn't seem to be working.

Could someone try it and see if it is working if possible.

So I can see if it is a fault at my end or what?

Just wondering if the new firewall is blocking it, not sure why though.

Their servers seem to be down as I can't connect on my laptop or my iphone. It was ok yesterday so hopefully it's just a temporary problem.

Ditto - connected a few days ago, now no response, at least via my Virgin cable connection.

Interestingly, using a US-hosted traceroute utility, www.tvcatchup.com still seems to alive.

As I type that it comes back online, however most channels aren't there.

Isn't the TV license supposed to cover online as well? Why would it be available on TV, but not online?

Hmmm - maybe their watertight legal advice wasn't quite as watertight as they'd thought?

You would expect after having paid the licence fee you can watch it any way you want.

I don't think that i it, as the channels that are online are random.
