Can someone tell me if you have to pay for an INCOMING call to a mobile in Seattle?, and is a one off charge, or time rated.

I want to call my daughter on her mobile from my PC using Skype (I am in the UK), but she is worried at the amount she will have to pay to RECEIVE the call?.

Anyone over there who knows anything about this. I have asked her to speak to her network provider, but knowing her, she won't bother.

Is her mobile with a US or UK carrier ?

If UK, then yes - she will have to pay a roaming charge for incoming calls too.

Yes she will, the receiver has to pay the international leg of the call if they're roaming.

ETA: assuming she has a UK mobile as mentioned above.

Forgot to men to mention, her mobile is brought in the states, and uses a state side service provider.

As she isnt roaming, and it is in her home area then she will not have to pay anything to receive a call.

Like in the UK if you recieve a call from a foreign telephone you dont have to pay.

It depends........on the provider she is with. When I lived in the US using AT&T or whatever they are called now I did not get charged for the international portion of the call but minutes used came out of my plan minutes as with all calls received in the US wherever they were from - was the way the US worked at the time....not sure if that is still the case though.

Depends on her contract in the US - I have a couple of US pay as you go mobiles and you pay the same rate to make and receive calls.....its a low rate, but you do pay....

I think in some tariffs you have to pay to recieve in the USA.

Also I think skype is expensive for calling.

If you're calling a US number its as cheap as chips - the US does not differentiate between mobile and landline numbers - they're all charged at the same rate to call...on skype this is about 1p per minute...great great service and has saved my business thousands over the years....

In the USA it costs the owner of the hadset to recieve a call, even if it is a USA handset, the UK system charges the caller to the mobile, in the states it it the other way around.
