Free phone?

so my mate said that he has ordered what appears to be free phone ..... is this an error? and is it worth trying?

Looks like it. I've signed up. If you're gonna go for it, might be worthwhile deleting the link - 10,000 requests for a free phone might make them cancel it outright.

Yeah I'm sure they just give them away.

It says 'upgrade' so I'm guessing if he doesn't already have a contract they'll just cancel his order, or it's just a mistake.

The Ts and Cs are quite clear on the pricing issue:

2.1. Subject to Clause Error! Reference source not found., the price of the Equipment
shall be our quoted price (which we can change in the case of an error) or, where
no price has been quoted (or a quoted price is no longer valid), the price listed in
our published price list current at the date we accept your order. For the
avoidance of doubt, the date that we accept your order shall be the date that the
Equipment is despatched.

Wonder which clause threw up the error? Anyway, they do say quite clearly that if they've made a mistake, they can change the price.

I got an order aknowledgment but since then nothing...it did say it would be tuesday before the order was processed or something though....

Got this email yesterday evening:

"Your order is now being processed and subject to successful network acceptance we will email you to confirm
that your order has been despatched."

I'm sure there will be a rejection email at some point today...

I bought a phone for £0.99. Not quite free I agree. I had to pay £11.99 but for that I got £11 pay-as-you-go credit. It's the 'family' phone, kept for emergencies or when anyone doesn't want to take their main phone - Blackberry and such.

A quick 453 has revealed that I've got >£3 credit and we've had the phone for about a year. Mind you it is not a proper phone as it doesn't take photographs, receive/send emails, play MP3, have games. In fact apart from the fact that it has a built-in torch, its rather like one of those things you have on your desk. You know, the only use for them is making and taking calls.

Yup upgrade only...and the contract wouldn't be free but whatever you were paying before according to the person i just spoke to on the phone.
Ah well to be expected really.
