Help setting up an outlook email account

Trying to set one up.
I have the domain name, lets call it www.help.com.

In the outlook accoutn set-up, I have set the incoming server to pop.help.com and the outgoing server to smtp.orangehome.co.uk.

I enter a login name and password.

When I try to use the account, it sends mail fine, but wont receive mail. It keeps popping up with a password box asking me to enter one, and when i do it just keeps popping up. Then when i hit send/receive it says login failed so can not receive mail.

Does anyone know where I am going wrong here?

If its with orange it should be along the lines of pop.orange.net

I was just using the HELP bit as an example.

I am with orange and they told me the outgoing server should be:

smtp.orangehome.co.uk

I assumed the incoming server should be:

pop.[my domain name] ??

Your name: eg - Paul Holdsworth

Account Type: POP 3
incoming mail server (POP3): pop.orangehome.co.uk
outgoing mail server (smtp): smtp.orangehome.co.uk
username: eg - yourname.orangehome.co.uk
password: eg - YoUrPaSsWoRd (note case sensitive)

Sorry, I didnt explain myself properly.
I have bought a domain name for my company and wanted to set up outlook so i can read and send business emails.
So should i use my domain name as the outgoing server?

Ok,

For outgoing you need to use your ISP's SMTP settings (so smtp.orangehome.net)

For incoming you need to use the address your domain is setup to use, for instance if you registered with Fast hosts and they handle your email it would be mail.yourdomain.com

ETA

and you'll need to use the mailbox settings for your domain if it asks for a username and password


For example

I have registered Blogs.com and setup an email address [e-mail]


Incoming mail settings mail.blogs.com,
Username and password [e-mail] & whatever the password is

outgoing settings

smtp.orangehome.net

When you registered your domain (assuming you paid for pop e-mail), they usually send all your usernames & passwords to you. Have a look on their FAQs/help page for assistance.

Have you paid for email hosting?

If so, you might need to use the hosting provider's POP and SMTP settings.

For example (with say Strato):

pop3.strato.com
smtp.strato.com

Username: [e-mail]
Password: MypaSsword
