I downloaded a doc that I needed, opened it in word pad, it showed text ok but it should have had some templates in it too.
The "owner" of the doc states it's better in MS Word.
Not quite sure what better means.
I don't seem to have MS word, I looked at options in word pad which all seem to be about wrapping.
This is not "tragic" as I can make the templates myself, just curios.

MS word is probably the most common form of letter writing package. It normally comes as a standard with any Windows package i.e. 98, 2000 or XP!

It's a relatively user friendly package allowing you to type letters, faxes invitations, you name it MS Word can probably accomplish it.

Can I suggest if you haven't got it, GET it. One of the good things from MS IMHO. OH

I wouldn't agree that it normally comes with PCs (never has for me). If you have to buy it yourself, it's a bit pricey but it's probably also got more features than anyones has ever needed.

If you want to save yourself money, download a copy of OpenOffice (www.openoffice.org) for free and see if that will open the word document. No guarantees though...

Do you not have Microsoft Word?

Blimey!

Even Macs can have it!

If the file extension is .doc, it really wants to be opened with Word. If you right-click the file, do you get 'Open with' and a list of programs?

Or mail it to a friend who can open it, do some screen grabs and mail you jpgs!
