Funny dial up type noise
Discussion
Ok I have no modem installed on this machine - I connect to the internet through a bt broadband modem via my serverfirewall.
Every now and then (say once a day) I get a noise like an analogue modem starting to dial (the first few blips) from the pc.
Setup is dual athlon 1600, 2x ibm deskstar 80gb harddrives, geforce2mx 400 graphics card, 512mb ddr 2600 ram, winfast pvr tv capture card, 16x matshita dvd, plextor 24x cd-rw, 3com 10100 network card, soundbalster 5.1 sound card.
There is nothing of note in the event log.
Of this setup what could possibly cause this noise?
(doesn't really bother me btw , just interested)
any ideas?
