I can view my screen on the TV via S-Video and look at pictures etc. but when I play movies Windows Media Player opens and sound works but no video, although video does show on the laptop screen.
I have a couple that do show on TV but the vast majority don't.

Any ideas folks?

You need to change the primar display to be the TV.

typcally FN F8 will switch the outputs on most laptops, if not check the settings in display properties, advanced, Output / GeForce Tab / ATI Display Tab.

Cheers Jamie, I wonder if that solves my other problemette?

Quality of the image on the TV is so poor I need to have the laptop LCD on to see what any of the text says, Even high res pictures look a bit grainy?

Tv's are really low resolution, and interlaced.

They are not useful for reading text, but stunning for watching video / film on.

I use a Projector myself, and its alot better.

OK Cheers

I'll try your first suggestion and see how that goes anyway.

See if you have a 'Sharpness' setting in your graphics card options - might make things a little easier to read.

Also, try switching between Composite and S-Video output?
