I in my infinite wisdom have managed to get this on my computer somehow. I am on a non-administrator user. Both of the administrator users on my computer are gubbed. Everything I open up is fked, if I try to open anything it says its infected. Even if I open the task manager. It will let me open internet explorer but wont let me go onto any sites as it says the site is unsafe.

What can I do? I am in desperate need of help before I throw something through my screen the next time it says *ding* the file task manager is infected get Antivirus 2010 now.

Im guessing this might get moved but I thought people that didnt look on the computing section regularly will have been affected, hopefully.

Reboot in safe mode (press F8 whilst booting)
Download MalawareBytes and spybot. Run malawarebytes first quick scan, then deep scan, then run spybot

This should get rid, if not downlaod Asquared and run it.

All these are free.

The virus you have can cause irrepairable damage, the only real cure would be reformat and a clean install.

if you've lost the admin users passwords, you can reset them with ERD Commander

Probably not .... doubt it will be able to install.

To be honest, I'd reinstall - my O/H managed to get this - wasn't worth the effort of trying to get rid, just splatted the PC and rebuilt. There's certainly one advantage of that, I know it's gone for 100%.

It worked on mine despite lost admin accounts. I had antivirus 2008, antivirus live is similar apparently

Attended someone at work who had managed to get this on their workstation type

They're never the same again; back everything up, format, reinstall.
