Just wondering if mine is broken but the range seems to be about 1 meters. anybody else get one of these for christmas. may exchange it tomorrow as M&S is opposite our shop.

It is indeed, very frustrating. Batteries are freshly charged energizers from my canon flash gun.

Well when I took mine apart (yes I was that fking bored and the wheel was tangled with dog hair) there was a small cut in what I assume was the radio receiver part in the car. It's coiled and taped to underneath the engine cover. Possibly yours has been fully sliced and it reduces the range. It looks like when the car was screwed onto the base it got caught. Unscrew it and have a look.

I'd never heard of these until I read this thread. I'll have to pop to M&S on Monday & see if there are any left.

I've got a yellow and a white one, and the white (27MHz) one has the same problem, the 40MHz one is fine. Both are examples of utterly crap Chinese engineering however. Very tempted to buy myself a Mardave Caterham now...

I've been having fun with the R500 version, range definitely more than 5m but haven't had it outside yet. Great fun! biggrin
