iPhone 3GS or Blackberry Bold 9700

Guys, firstly happy new year !

Secondly, i have a dilema..

i will very soon be changing my phone, and i really dont know what to do - i have spent far too much time reading reviews/opinions/specs on various phones and have decided to go for one of the followt ng, but need some help.

Looking at:

iPhone 3GS White 16gb

or

Blackberry 9700 Bold

The phones can be had for similar amounts of money based on my contract due to useage, just really need to work out which is better to go for..

i use the phone for personal and a little bit of work, web browsing, email, music, some (very few) photos, twitter, facebook, PH.

Both come with access to apps like news/weather etc plus obviously the iPhone has the extra fun and silly little apps for something different.

Would like to know opinions of users on here really to help make a decision!!

Was faced with the same choice recently and went with the Blackberry as I am a big texter and preferred the hard buttons.

I've got an iPhone 3gs and a blackberry. I much prefer the iPhone. The interface and browser are muh much nicer, easier to use and perform better. Plus you get the fun stuff.

The blackberry does Just pip the iPhone to the post for email useage though.

The battery life on the iphone is shocking. I used to be able to run my Blackberry for 3-4 days between charges. Its every day (at least once) with the iphone which is a pain in the arse when travelling.

Currently I'm using a bb curve and its probably best phone Iv had for awhile!
Internet, facebook, twitter, email, messenger are all on it. There's also the apps world which isn't as good as the iphone apps unfortunatly.

I also looked at the i phone when I was searching for an upgrade but decided against it after my friend dropped hers (from a small height) and the screen smashed. Found out that's quite common too!
The best feature was probably the apps on the i phone but I wanted a good all round phone which I got in the blackberry.

My partners brother works for vodafone and he recommends the bb to most people who want a decent phone for internet and email etc..

This is going to depend on whether or not you primarily browse the net on the phone or whether you are big on texts and emails.

If you love email you simply MUST have a Blackberry. If you reply to email on the move a Blackberry with a keyboard would appear to be the consensus view.

The browser on my 8820 is ste in comparison to Safari on the iPhone. Absolute ste. If you browse a lot the iPhone is tonnes better.

Most of the iPhone apps are very gimmicky and you'll never use them. I have the 9000 Bold and wouldn't swap it for any other phone apart from the 9700, despite the fact I got it on release day. My only gripe is that they are somewhat unreliable, I'm on my 4th on now in about 17 months. I had issue like not getting any signal, buttons not registering, speakers not working etc. They seem to have sorted it now though because I've had this one for about 9 months and it's been fine. The keyboard on the iPhone is horrible, but maybe that's just my preference.

Yes the flashing LED is one of the best functions, I suppose you take it for granted. I would really miss it if I stopped using Blackberry.

I also have both (for personal/business use respectively), the previous point about the battery life of the iphone is very true; a real pain if away/travelling. The BB is a better 'phone' and the email process is also more efficient.
However, if playing around on Apps / music / video's is your thing, then iphone - but if you want a 'mobile office' (phone/emails) or something more business friendly/practical then defo BB.

A colleague of mine just ebayed the blackberry and got a 3GS.
I just asked him the question you have, the reply was: Iphone every fking second of the day, blackberry was an absolute st!

certainly some mixed views for and against each..

I am steering more towards the Bold, simply because emails/texts are going to be the main focus with some web browsing when travelling. battery life is going to be a big decider as well, i dont really want to have to work out whether im going to be near a charging station each day!!

Looks like im going to be owning a Bold 9700 for the next few months at least, if i dont get on with it i can always sell it on and swap

The old black and white ones lasted over a week. Sadly, the new ones aren't so great.

I've got both. The blackberry did it's job well but is now sat in the drawer covered in dust. I can actually type faster on the Iphone, and it's user interface is just so much better that I can't see myself going back.

I wouldnt change back to a blackberry if you paid me to.

Went for the iphone last year and never looked back.
Battery life is a little bit of a hindrance, but other than that, its a far better device all round than the blackberry- easier to use, better screen, more things to do on it (maps, etc)

Try any phoe shop, and ask for a good demonstration- not the flashy sjite they will want to how you, but a proper demo of how to use it as a tool rather than a toy

Battery life is one of Blackberry’s weaker points and well as the infinite number of other f--k-ups. I'm lucky if my Storm lasts 12 hours without dying. It truly is a complete dog st of a phone. I hate it with a passion not yet known to mankind. Every time I so much as look at the thing, I wish it would either implode; explode; frizzle into nothing; or at the very least, that someone might actually steal the fking thing and put me out of my misery.

Please, please, please don't buy one; you will instantly regret it the moment you ask it to perform the simplest task.

Incidentally, if you work for a large company which doesn't support Blackberry's server, you won't get your work emails to your phone either.

I promise you; I wish to God I'd bought the I-phone instead. I also wish Blackberry's entire PD team would die in fire of AIDS.
