Win 2000 pro, McAfee firewall and virus home edition.

I have found what I believe to be spyware on my computer. It is in the folder Programme Files and is entitled msbb. In the folder there is msbb.exe lurking.

This programme continually tries to access the internet but I have hopefully blocked it using the firewall.

Has anyone any idea on how to delete it?

I've recently had worms. Is there any connection?

I'd get spybot from here which does a good job of getting rid of spy ware.

You can get Adaware for that.

This is a good site for ruinning the name of any application past it, check the site out it tells you what proceses are legit and dodgy. BTW yes msbb.exe is spyware see here.
Nothing Adware or spybot can't sort out though, both are free.

I had some spyware (Red Sheriff and another I can't remember) and Adaware got rid of it perfectly. Note that antivirus software doesn't cover spyware - you need to run antivirus AND antispyware programs.

Though not being an IT bod that's my amateur distillation of it!

I said it when I should have said them. The results from the scan I ran were quite frightening.

Thanks for everyone's help.
