Hopefully someone can help me. I've been working on a file yesterday and come to it today only to be told the file is invalid, the same message I get when I try opening a file that is using a newer version of AutoCAD to the one I'm using (2005).

Please could someone do me a huge favour and open the file for me, re-save as AutoCAD 2000 file then send it back to me?

Can I ask how you did it? I've been trying all morning to no avail.

Download this:

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/pc/index?id=6...

Allows you to open and convert any DWG up to V2010. I get sent a LOT of stuff from architects and since we're only on 2004 I frequently need to convert stuff. Tis a very handy wee tool.

I opened the drawing in AutoCAD 2009 Architecture.
Exported the drawing to DXF format to get rid of the AEC objects.
Opened the DXF file and saved it as AutoCAD 2000.

I failed at the first hurdle. Couldn't even open it using Architectural Desktop 2005.

To view AEC objects properly you would probably have to download the enablers for your version of AutoCAD: http://www.cadforum.cz/cadforum_en/download.asp?ca...

If I known you were using AD I would have done it differently wink

Hi Phil, I've just sent it through as a dxf file. I'm still having problems opening it on my machine and Promap were next to useless.

No probs. I've emailed you back what I make of it.. It doesn't make much sense to me, but maybe it does to you..

It seems to be a terrain grid.. but that's all..
