XP Home to Pro upgrade failure

Hey,

Okay, I've made a huge mistake! I've attemped to upgrade to XP pro from XP home with out backing anything up.

How do I get access to my C: drive to get a couple of important files off?\Thanks.

Do you have a spare HDD to install an OS on then set your important HDD to slave and recover that way, or if not do you know someone who could caddy your HDD and do the same thing?

if its an upgrade it wont matter as only windows system files will be overwritten, all your documents etc will remain intact. If you chose to do a clean install and formatted the drive first you're kinda screwed as even with a recovery program some of the files will have been overwritten with new data.
