Security Systems - remote? (non-car)
Discussion
Can anyone recommend a type of security system which would satisfy the following requirements?
1) small
2) cheap
3) cannot rely on equipment visible in same building as being secured
4) would only be triggered based on predefined 'rules' eg after 8pm
5) would record images
6) probably the difficult bit - may have to work in the dark.
As a bit of background, this is for a sports club building which has nothing of great value in it and the main doors are usually left unlocked (due to nothing in the main hall being of any use to anyone plus it houses noticeboards etc). Unfortunately, the kitchen must remain locked due to having a few bits of electrical equipment and for liability insurance compliance - in case any thief gets electricuted! We have recently had problems with kids using the premises (usually just to smoke in) but also occaisonally kicking the kitchen door in etc for the hell of it. We would like to be able to ideally film unauthorised use or at least trigger an alarm (either audible or hooked up to someones mobile phone or PC etc) when people use the premises outside club hours.
Obviously we can't have the recording equipment visible in the building.

Systems like that are available, but it depends on your budget.
Remember that any images recorded need to be date and time stamped if you want to use them as evidence.
Also (and I'm not 100% sure about this) but if you are recording images digitally, I don't think they can be admissible as evidence, as digital images can easily be altered?
Have a peek at the link....

Maybe if the footage is not worth the media that it is stored on then you would be better of with a detterant.
Proximity lights, huge halogen ones that come on if you get close (thiefs are sneaky and like the dark), big F**K off alarm that wakes the town up, flashing lights, bells and whistles. All these are fairly cheap, and better that you scare them off before they knick anything than to watch a tape of them cleaning you out.
Or a big arse dog.
