Anyone know of any good deals at the moment?

Looking to spend a max of 500, only going to be used for internet/streaming, media centre type activities.

I've just bought an Asus for 400 notes. What sold it was the spec and the fact that Asus laptops appear to have the lowest warranty claims of any brand at the moment. Bought direct from Asus. 4 gig, win 7 64bit, decent 15" screen and good battery life.

Similar question but different smile

Need 2 new laptops for small business use. Have coped with a steam powered Acer for too long and need to upgrade. This still does the joba nd went reasonably high spec when bought.

So - Need to multi task, excel and MS Office so guess good Hard Drive (for teh obvious itunes and photos that always seem to invade work stuff) together with great and quick processing power and battery life - budget as small as possible to get the 'best deal'.

Weight not vital as will always travel by car or train and dont need the sexiest little beast. Carry in briefcase and goes everywhere so some crap Dell not approriate?

Any ideas?

2/3GB RAM and 100+GB Hard Drive probably minimum. No need for top range sound or graphics.

Please help?????? smile

Recently bought a Dell as a desktop replacement.
4GB ram, Win7x64, 320Gb disk, 17" widescreen, Pentium T4300 dual core. Just under £500.

Pretty looking thing and nice to use. Not sure I'd want to lug it about too much though.

Thanks for all the recommendations guys, I ended up going with a HP laptop in the end - 17" screen, intel core2 as opposed to dual core, 500GB hard drive, 4 GB DDR3 RAM, HDMI port etc.

A good spec for 500 quid, and from PC world of all places!

recently got my self a HP HD X-16 1310EA, my budget was alittle greater (£800).
i looked at all makes to replace my 5 year old ASUS A4000G which has been excellent. being used to Dell laptops at work (studio and XPS), i haven't really been impressed with the build quality or reliability from dell. the HP though has really impressed me, great build quality and good spec. only down side is the weight 3.2kgs and size, more a desktop replacement then a light weight laptop.
