iPhone Question
Discussion
I got my iPhone 2G a week or so after launch and it has stood by me through thick and thin. I love this thing, prefer the metal back and over all design compared to the later models. Feels very well built.
The bad news is I have a line of broken dead pixels after numerous drops, the black back cover at the base of the metal is coming away and the phone is struggling with basic apps.
I'm tempted by an iPhone 3GS, extra RAM wod be useful and it looks like OS 4.0 is out next week for 3G onwards phones.
I was planning on waiting till summer for the iPhone refresh, if I do get a 3GS now will my carrier (O2) allow me to upgrade when the refresh is released (June time usually) and how much can I expect to pay?

If you upgrade now, you will be in an 18/24 month contract...so you will be able to upgrade when the new one comes out, but you will have to buy out of your current contract first.
In your position, I would buy a 3G on ebay from all the folk upgrading, go onto O2 simplicity, and when the new one comes out then upgrade.
