Iphone back up / restore

Not sure what is wrong with my Iphone but every time i plug it in to sync it or update it or anything it buggers itself up and i end up having to do a restore.

Which is not the end of the world - but very annoying.

Anyway - it never seems to back up / restore my apps - so i have to go into the app store and download them all again - how do i stop having to do this?

I presume you're setting the Phone up each time, as a new phone, rather than resync'ing old data?
Is it jailbroken?
Does it happen every time you sync with iTunes, or just most times?
I'm wondering if you might have an iTunes problem, which is causing the issue, rather than an iPhone related one.
Might be worth downloading iTunes again, and reinstalling - make sure you back-up your Store purchases (songs/Apps/etc) before removing and reinstalling it.
You can re-download them again, but it's more hassle than if you back-up.

Nope - resyncing from old data.

Well i try too anyway.

I plug it in - its back everythign up again and then it says a problem has occured and it stops. And tells me it needs to restore now.

Tried re downloading i tunes and also tried it on two different PC's.

Frustratin rather than anythign as i dont' lose anythign each time i just have to back it all up - and then redownload my apps.

Set up as a new phone then - yes you will lose SMS conversations, and e-mails, but that's gotta be preferable to having a hardly working phone?
Also make sure you're up to date with 3.1.2 on it.
