I have a powermac G5 2.3 dual core and it is about to be going into semi retirement as a stick it in the cupboard media machine

So what is the biggest hard drives i can stick in it?

I see many things saying the max is 500Gb

A few saying 400Gb

And a few saying 2Tb

So basically i haven't got a clue does anyone else know

I can't see how there could be a Hard Drive capacity limit anyway.

There is in some circumstances. The commands used when you go over 127G are different to those below. As a result, some older machines have a 127G limit.

If you just use the standard bays, then have a small start-up drive in bay A and a 2gb one in bay B.

If you need more space then simply fit either an external box with multiple drives, or fit another 1-3 drives internally with some sort of mount (Sonnet G5 Jive, or MaxConnect assembly)

Oh yes, I remember Windows having problems with that.
Don't know anything about macs, so I couldn't tell how old it is.

But judging from that link I posted, it seems that you can put whatever size in it.

I have 4x 750GB Hitachi disks in my dual 2.3 (with a Weibetech expansion board for the additional disks). Can't see how/why there would be a limit to disk size...

There isn't - the G5 came long after the 32-bit limitation (128 GB threshold).
Nothing stopping you putting in whatever the current largest EIDE/PATA drive is, or SATA (if they were at that level when produced, can't recall if they were or weren't).

That's similar to what I had in my G5, but the Mac Pro has 4 sleds anyway, and I've just used a bracket to hold a couple of more drives in the spare optical drive bay.
