Which one do I need?

Obviously that's a whole "piece of string" question, but if I go for the 16GB version, which is considerably cheaper, am I realistically likely to regret not paying the extra for the extra?

In other words - who's filled up a 16GB iPhone so far? And how did you manage that? Just music?

I filled up a 8GB within 2hrs of having it - apps and songs.
Go for the biggest you can get

I'd go for the 32Gb.

I filled my 16Gb 3G in about 6 months and now I have to be selective about what music I want on there. As the 32Gb wasn't available 18 months ago I got the best I could - I would recommend you do the same?

Conversely, I have a 16g iPhone & am nowhere near capacity, despite having some fairly chunky apps installed (Tom Tom etc. )

As said, go for the biggest you can, but I wouldn't re-mortgage the house fir 32gb

I think it's around £100 extra for the 32GB on O2, so it sounds like it's worth going for the extra - thx.

I had that same choice to make last week. Went for the 32Gb in the end. It's not even halfway full, but I can't stop downloading stty, free apps. It's like crack.

Nova's quite good, too.

I've got the 16GB and wouldn't want any more. It entirely depends on what you feel you need on it at all times, though.

Depends on what you use it for, but i've filled a 16gb one up, mainly with music, and could really do with a 32gb one now hehe

Still happy with an 8GB. Learn how smart playlists work and only carry a subset of your music (I generally sync anything added in the last month, plus a playlist of top-rated songs that I've not heard in a couple of months). Plenty of space left over for a few audiobooks, a load of podcasts and all the other bits and bobs.

I'm doing fine with a 16GB (3Gs).

The battery runs out before I have chance to fill the memory.

Just had the same decision myself. In 2 years of having iPhones I've never filled 8GB, so went for a 16GB.

My music collection is 523GB. I accepted a long time ago that I would have to move things around! smile

Assuming you will mostly fill it with music, it also depends where and how you'll play that music. There are apps that will allow you to stream your music from your home PC which work well over wifi and save you needing so much music on your iPhone. Obviously not so useful on the move (streaming over 3G is unreliable)

Just a thought.

An MP3 at 320 kbps is circa 2.4MB.

A 32GB iPhone will have 29.3GB of space on it available for Music (and apps)

Jeez, how many days of music do you need to carry...? eek

16gb for me, as it keeps me from keeping the same crap on it for months on end.

Solely depends on how much music and photos you want on it.

I have a 16gb and have about 18gb of music on my mac, so I have just unticked about 10 of the 50 albums on itunes that I won't miss not having on my iphone. That leaves about 2gb free for app fun smile

If you want to have 40ish albums and lots of photos too, then go for the 32gb.

£100+ for 16gb extra is a rip off! You can buy a 16gb micro sd card for about £8 these days!! No wonder apple don't include removable memory!

You've got some fked up numbers there, chap.

An average album is 70Mb. So 40 albums will be 2.8Gb.

OP: It depends how much music you have and whether you will use your iphone as the main method of storing photos etc, or will move them to PC shortly after taking.

I've got 250-300Gb of music; so my iphone is only ever going to be stuff I'm 'in to' at a certain point in time. So a 16Gb unit is fine. I usually have 75-100 albums on it at any one time (c.7Gb) which leaves acres of space for photos and apps.
I'd only buy a 32Gb is you are planning on loading some of the larger games onto it. Otherwise, it's an extra £100 wasted, IMO.

Just bought the 8G version and I have to say I am impressed.
I tend to use it for just email and mapping so have loads of space left.
IMO well worth the investment.
