Considering replacing my iPhone 3G 8gig.
I think its a brilliant (jailbroken) phone but it's internet connection isn't great. Connects perfectly to my Wifi, McDonalds and round other peoples house but everywhere else (College etc) it connects but internet browser sits on the loading / connecting screen.

So looking for a replacement, criteria:
-Touch screen
-Good internet capabilities
-Decent music player (don't want to carry a separate iPod)
-Good as / better than an iPhone hehe
-£200 or under

Please helps me! biggrin

Surely you just need to resolve the problem rather than buying a new phone?

Also for what you've listed about I don't think you can do better than an IPhone.

By under 200 I assume you mean with contract? You won't find anything sim-free for that price.

Why not go for an Android phone this time?

I've had my Acer Liquid for a week now (can be found for £280 unlocked, although some may find it cheaper not only in price but in looks), Android has impressed me so far.

Restore it in itunes (backup first) and this should resolve your problem

Is the Droid actually available through any networks yet or still sim free only? Quite like the look of one...

Not through a network but you can get a £300 bung if you sign up to a TMobile plan.

I'm no iPhone fan but it doesn't sound like your issues have much to do with the phone itself, more the wifi coverage, or even what channel the APs are on perhaps.

I've tried all the settings but can't get the bloody thing to connect, so new phone is easier hehe Even my dads 3GS wouldn't connect.

And can't really restore it in iTunes as il have to jail break it again.

For the college wifi you will probably need to set up a VPN with the system. Thats what we need to do at uni, so that they can monitor what you browse/download. Pain in the arse, but worth it for the extra speed!

I'd suggest a new phone is a long way from guaranteed to fix your problem.

The connection module on the Iphone really works well and better than some other makes of phones I've seen.

First you need to define what the problem is before spending money on a new phone as you will most likely end up have two phones that don't connect to those networks.

Nokia 5800 with Opera Browser smile

Although the poster above has a point in that getting a new phone might not solve the connection issues.
