Feckin Wireless Bag of Shite
Discussion
Well 1 * D-LInk access point and 2 * D-Link PCI Cards -and the bloody thing wont even connect from 2 inches away let alone 20 meters as is the plan.
Latest 54Mbps cards and access point just set me back best part of 200 notes and it's scrap!!!!!!!
Will be boxing it up and sending it back to D-Link tomorrow, together with a friendly notes requesting full refund.

before you do, check for firmware updates, these will usually make a pile of difference. A lot of the 54g stuff is pretty immature and needs a few updates to make it good.
If you are running XP then there is a patch for the wireless stuff which makes it a whole lot better.
I cannot find it at the mo but if you want it mail e offgassing and I'll dig it out for you.

I Take it you are using this to connect from your new office to the house??
Also check that it has an intergrated aerial as some dont come with and you have to pay extra. I think when i was looking i rejected some models because of this.
What Dlink Model is it and i have a scout round and see.

Also i recomend Buffalo Wireless Kit. G54 Access point/router. Currently Replying from House 100m away. Got a 2mps connection Speed.

Something quick and worth checking: in the properties for the wireless connections, have a fumble around and check that 802.1x authentication isn't turned on.
If Windows XP has got it grubby autoconfiguration mits on your wireless card, it will be on by default, and in anything but a clued-up corporate environment, there won't be any infrastructure to support it. Turn it off.

Sorted the Access Point was shagged hence no connection etc, D-Link have sent me a new access point out to try and it worked straight away
