Shared calendar using outlook. Meeting Req. question.

Morning all.
I want to add loads of events that will remind us of up and coming important events. I have set a shared calendar up and was wondering if there is any way that i can set this up so that certain people get reminded of the event, but do not get a meeting request for every one?
I thought of creating a distribution list in AD, that way only one 'person' gets a reminder, but when the reminder is pinged off all the members of that DL would get an email? But as this would only update the calendar of this DL user i'm not sure how that would work?
I could just send out requests for the lot of them, but that's a little un-tidy.
