I've connected my Iphone up to the laptop as it hasn't been sync'd for a bit. I ve already restarted once because it is taking an absolute age to update. I have no idea why and don't remember any of the other updates taking so long.

Can people remember how long it took them to do the latest update? I reckon i've been here for an hour including the re-start.

Just checked, it has moved from the letter a of my name to the letter e, since I made this post. So as you can see it's taking a stupid length of time.

Mine took around an hour I think, could have been a bit longer (it seemed like it)

took me at least an hour to do mine, same problem I'd not backed up for ages either. I found closing everything else down helped

Update? As in OS update? Or merely syncing?
Which iPhone - 2G, 3G, 3GS?
What version of iTunes - 9.0.3, or 9.0.2 or earlier?

An update from what, though?

Just a thought here, are you using a genuine lead because I tried a copy one once and could not do a sync, the bar moved then froze.

The OS 3 update is spomething like 200mb to download and install, depending on your broadband speed the process can take up to an hour.

Must remember to not post in future at 5.30 in the morning when ha;f asleep. smile

As i've started off the update I can't tell you what version it is downloading. From memory this is the 2nd or 3rd update following the big 3.1 os update.

Still going, although it now appears to be updating the firmware. I have the white apple on the iphone screen and the status bar is about 3/4 of the way along.
