I want to buy a new netbook for around £250.00. I currently have a 2 year old Acer One which is very tired, I've used it everywhere. I like the look of both the Samsung and Toshiba, they have very similar specs. Would like to hear the views of others and suggestions on any other machines I should consider for this budget?

I've bought and used several netbooks before settling on the NC10. Great little machine but what i like most is the near to full size keyboard AND the decent sized shift key. Its amazing how hard a small shift key makes typing yet most netbooks have them.

Great overall machine, great build quality too.

I've owned an NC10 for about a year and it's a great machine. My only problem is that it doesn't have enough horsepower to play some of the more demanding video formats (720p .mkv for example) but if you're using it for general browsing/email etc then it's spot on.

Very tempted to order an NC10, this seems a bargain.

Or another Samsung, the N130, for just over £200.

Great deal. 250gb and W7. Only thing that concerns me are some of the negative comments I've heard about W7 on netbooks?

I've got an NC10 for work. Very happy with it. Got it from staples for £240 if I remember rightly.

I sold my well-used Aspire One in August last year and spent a few months researching and deciding if and what to replace it with. Eventually (October) I went with the VAIO W-Series. At the time it was on special offer at Comet for £279, which made a lot of sense considering it was close to £400 at launch a few months before then.

I like it as although it dosent have the incredible battery life of the uber-popular NC10, its a bit more unique and has a bit of exclusivity about it. As you would expect from a Sony product, its very well built and has a lovely keyboard and great quality screen, which for me are important considerations as I always felt the Acer was quite cheaply built. The best part is the 1366 x 768 HD resolution that the LED screen runs at, its simply fantastic compared to the cramped 1024 x 600 every other netbook on the market has. It makes it a lot more useable, and really needs to be seen to fully appreciate the difference it makes.

Mine is the XP model, but I've upgraded it to Windows 7 Pro (improved battery life and performance a little) and *borrowed* an extra 1GB of RAM from my MacBook to speed things up further. All in all quite impressed with it.

NC10s are great too though, it just depends what you want.

Essentialy the 'Starter' version of 7 that most netbooks get bundled with is total st and more basic than XP Home. You can't even change wallpaper FFS! Pro and Home Premuium on the other hand run very well on most netbooks.
