BT broadband router advice please.
Discussion
Hi ,
I wonder if I could seek a bit Broadband router advice please,
I have been with BT broadband for a few years, been happy with the service no problem, however I have the original router a BT Voyager 210 ADSL router with one connector ethernet
connector.
It gets hot and it is loosing light's, so I guess it is on the way out.
I am considering two routes, one is ringing BT up and seeing if they can send me a new router to replace this one.
The other is buying a decent one from Argos for example, with both wired connection's and the handy addition of a wireless connection. Which would be useful for the kids Wii and my macbook, but still able to wire in the PC and the xbox 360.
If I buy one, anyone got any recommendation's through experience and is it virtually easy to plug in and set up.
I am to be honest not looking forward to the call centre fun with BT to try and get them to send me a new router that may not be all that good,
Any advice would be gratefully received.
Thanks.

If you're happy with the service, I'd give them a call and see if they'll offer you a free Home Hub 2.0 if you sign up for another 18 month contract; that's what new customers get. That will give you a wireless connection and all the usual Ethernet / USB / phone sockets too. If they don't play ball, that's when I'd start looking at buying an alternative.

They will send me a new home hub 2.0 for free, so i will see what that is like first.
Thanks again.

Home Hub 2.0 is a great piece of kit!
That's good to hear - I have version 1.5, and despite it having its fair share of detractors on some internet sites, mine is two years old next month and has been utterly reliable with an excellent wireless range. I'm not going to upgrade it until it dies, and when I do, it'll be for another Home Hub. Gassing Station | Computers, Gadgets & Stuff | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
