Just got a netgear router and was trying to set security (WEP) on it but after that it doesn't connect to the internet. Took it back to the shop and they tried as well eventually telling me that i shouldn't use the passphrase to generate apass key and instead type the passphrase directly into the passkey slot. It does work after that but i'm not sure how safe it is! Anyone know if this is okay?

you should be using WPA these days, not WEP - WEP isnt very secure at all

use WPA and at least an 8 character passphrase, that will keep out the casual hackers
