PC Audio Problems on VLC
Discussion
Not sure where to post this? in here or in Home Cinema, but thought it was more Computers related so.
Basically I have wired up my XP based media PC to my amp and TV for the newly decorated front lounge.
This setup has been running before with no problems, but now with the latest download of VLC player when I play a movie the sound is broken up and has what can be described as has a reverb/echo.
All other software works fine, iTunes, PowerDVD, etc
The PC is ASUS based chassis running XP. Sound is thru SPDIF from the motherboard on a co-ax to the input on the amp. All software is set to output thru SPDIF and the sound control software is set and calibrated for 5.1 and works on the test signals. It is only VLC that refuses to play ball.
My other option is to switch to the soundcard output and set seperate cables to the amp for the external decoder input, same one as I used to use on my SACD player. Yes soundcard has 3x3.5 stereo ports, giving me the required 5.1. Not overly sure on full details of PC build as it was custom build and it is a few years old, but I would have thought that a PC should not suddenly stop working, oh no, thats a mac!! LOL
Any thoughts ideas welcome,
cheers.
