I tried to install an iTunes update and the computer crashed midway and now on restart iTunes has completely disappeared, I have the iTunes info- downloaded stuff etc.

and my phone is how I want it to be-
so when I download a new iTunes program, how do I sync so that the computer takes the info from my phone- instead of the phone taking the info from my computer

Hope that makes sense?

Yes everything is still there except the program,

I spent a few nights renaming albums and tunes on iTunes library as it did not recognise the tracks and albums and lumped about 15 albums in one folder named unknown so I am just praying this is retrievable

If all your music files and folders are still on the computer then you can just reload iTunes and re-import the music ?

Sorry if I am missing the point...

is the library file still there? Should be in the iTunes folder, called itunes music library.xml ? That should help, I'll see if you can just install itunes, and see if it will use that library folder by dafault, as it;s already in there. Might be worth making a copy of it if it is there, and putting somewhere else in case.

Just sorting it out now, tried installing it again twice last night, computer just over heating before it's finished
Installed now and will start importing library
BM
Yes I have found that file, so all should be good, tried downloading the new version of iTunes, but it would not work due to administrator privileges on my computer
(never had a problem before and I am the only user confused)

You make it sound so simple, I am not quite sure how I thought it was difficult yesterday- frustration perhaps at losing what I had set up.

My frustration was with the albums I spent hours renaming, am hoping they import with the details intact

ETA, I spoke too soon, the iTunes I just installed is just showing me a shortcut and crashing computer when I click it irked

Think I have sorted it, I got rid of what I downloaded and opened the new version in 'run as admin' (never found that button before)
Seems to be OK and I did not have to import any library- it was all just there as I last saw it, even my account

Result thumbup

For future reference - even if everything is gone from the PC you can still recover it from the iPod as long as you dont let it sync. If the music is still on the pc then it should be easy peasy smile
