OK, so as a result of this thread:

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

I'm having a go at Wordpress. However, this page:

http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress

makes no sense to me at all. It's not really written for the beginner, is it?

Am I being dense, or is there an easier / better way to do this?

At the top of the page

"Many web hosts now offer tools (e.g. Fantastico) to automatically install WordPress for you. However, if you wish to install WordPress yourself, the following guide will help"

Doesn't yours?

Wouldn't be too put off by those instructions if not. Take is step by step and follow the guide and you'll be fine. If you're going to build your own websites you'll need to be prepared to learn a bit.

It's hosted by Godaddy, but I can't see how that helps me.

I don't think Wordpress is actually what I need - I don't want a blog.

The instructions would be more useful with less jargon, that's all. They're not intelligible unless you have a fair knowledge of the subject matter already, I would say, which isn't exactly how they market themselves...

Pretty straightforward then

You can produce decent websites with Wordpress - bit more than just a blogging tool really.

Why don't you try something like Mr Site though - easy to use straight out the box.

Thanks for that - much obliged. That's what I was looking for on Godaddy, but couldn't find.

I wasn't sure that Mr Site would produce something much better looking than Weebly, and I'm happy to hav a go at learning something as long as the curve isn't too vertical wink
