iphone - getting music onto the thing?
Discussion
I have a number of records I'd like to put onto my iphone but can't seem to do it without synchronising via itunes. Is this really the only way? Same for photos?
It's used both at home and at work so completely different contents on the two computers so sync-ing is out of the question.

Syncing on more than one computer is entirely possible - in fact you can do it with 5!
Where your assumption is going wrong, is you're leaving the options/preferences at their default values, when in fact you should be setting each computer's iTunes to "manually manage music", and turning off the other's options for contacts, calendars, photos, etc.
All this is easily found on Apple's Support section - www.apple.com/support
