Formatting a drive with true crypt on?

I use full disk encryption and am about to upgrade (format and fresh install) win 7 - can i do this without decrypting (i realise i will need to get true crypt re-sorted after the install) or do i have to decrypt (which will take hours) first?

Boot from the windows install disk, it will give you the options to delete the active partition, then create a new partition in the available space. Job done in seconds.

So you can run Windows from TrueCrypt or do you mean the Microsoft BitBlocker encryption?

Although I've just ordered the Ultimate edition of Windows 7 I intend to use TrueCrypt because it will run on just about anything while MS restrict it to Windows Ultimate.

In fact I'm ordering one of these for the laptop in the hope that encryption on the drive should be faster than doing it in software:

so ignore my "8hrs of decrypt to go"/...shut down, stick in Win 7 disk and turn back on?

Yep, you must boot from the windows install disk to get the option.

Remember, though, this method destroys all data on the hard drive.
