Perhaps something that needs changing in the settings, as I know it's fairly tight as a standard install... I'm trying to download via the inbuilt 'Transmission' client, but it takes an age to even kick off. Also when trying to send/receive files via uMSN, it doesn't work either.

I can't help with the specifics, but it sounds like it might be a problem with the configuration of your router? I think both of those things require some special configuration to work properly behind NAT.

ETA - may also be worth looking at your firewall config, assuming you have one set up.
