Anyone used one? I have an HTC hero on Orange which I want to unlock as I want to move network but am very happy with the phone. I went up to a place today to get it unlocked and they said that there are problems unlocking the Orange version of the phone and they prefered not to do it as it may cause problems.

One web search later and I have found a thing called a rebel sim which seems to reslove the problems. Anyone know anything about them?

Cheers

I don't know about using it with HTC but Rebel SIMs have been used in iPhones and Palm Pres for a while now. They seem to work OK until there's a firmware upgrade which modifies the baseband processor lock code in some way - then the phone becomes locked again, until Rebel SIM provide an upgrade - if they can work out how to upgrade it appropriately.

A proper network operator unlock code is the way to go. Rebel SIM is OK, but more of a last resort IMNSHO

It is a last resort! Hero on Orange cannot be unlocked right now apparently.
