dropped i phone...

i dropped my iphone on the way to the sirport a couple of weeks ago. Ive now returned and need some advcie. Its not insured so i need to replace it, however before i do I thoughyt I would describe the symptoms to see if anyone could help.

Its basically just whitescreened. I let the battery die down in the hope that when I turned it back on it may reset but this hasnt helped. It also cant be "seen" by my laptop whenm I plug it in so I hope I can recover the contacts etc which were stored in it.

any advice gratfully received

Can you take it to an apple store, and have them look at it? It does sound goosed, though.
