IT at my current clients site decided to replace the existing data mart with SAP, found out at short notice...

Before I was extracting a chunk of data via a text file from the old system to upload in to my own SQL Server ETL process, now I have BEx which would require me running the same query manually 25 + times to get the same data (excel file limit) and then ETL on these 25+ files.

So asked them to extract my query results as a monthly text file, but advised "we are not licensed to directly feed data into a third party system via broadcasting etc."

Is this right? surely a company can extract a text file of their own data as they wish? Sounds incredible if SAP have that much control?

anyone know if a license if needed, roughly how much?

Go to local petrol station.

Purchase petrol (5 litre can should be sufficient)

Pour contents over current server.

Light.

Or just install SAP, both will end up with the same levels of anger.
