I'm in the process of buying a portable DVD player to keep mini JQ entertained on a long flight. For a little bit more money I could buy a Netbook with 80GB memory. Obviously the Netbook would be far more usefull long term and something I could actually use when not on a plane.

So, is it possible to upload DVD's onto such a device and if so how many DVD's could you get on it? And would the screen on a netbook be ok for watching a movie?

Cheers for your help.

The screen would be fine for watching movies. A DVD could be ripped to around 700MB, or so. So that simply depends on how much HD space you have.

Oh, and www.handbrake.fr should rip your DVD's without any bother.

Perfect, looks like I shall mainly be investigating Netbooks this evening.
