Why is my freeSat about to get smashed to pieces??
Discussion
Not had a thing on it for nearly a week.
Nothing has been touched or altered on it.
Last week it was working perfectly, now it merely says 'no signal'
I have used the DVD player in between, but surely that doesn't affect anything?
Can anyone help before I smash the bejesus out of it?
Is it the satallite down or is it fubar? It's only 3 months old.

I seriously doubt the satellite is down.
Double check the cable to the satellite dish is still plugged in at the back of the receiver, normally these are F connectors so it shouldn't just fall out, but you never know.
Other than that, unless the box has has actually popped you are going to need someone with a satellite signal strengh meter to diagnose the 'no signal' message.
Do you know anyone else with a free view box who you could swap boxes with just to illiminate the sat feed? Or take your receiver round to their house and see if it works there?

1) Is it raining heavily, or are there heavy rain-showers in the vicinity?
2) Are there any recently disturbed branches / leaves / foliage obstructing the dish?
3) You're Emsman. Attempting physical violence against the freesat box will almost certainly involve you in a visit to casualty.
That's all I can think of at the moment.
(He's going to go outside in a thunderstorm and start poking at branches near the dish with a long metal pole. I just know it.)

rBorrow another freesat or a Sky box - any will work. If it works, then your box is broken, otherwise it's the cable, dish alignment / obstruction or maybe the LNB has failed
If nothing is blocking the dish's line of sight then it could be a break in the cable somewhere? See if you can see any damage to it, or any connectors, any little holes will let water in and soon degrade the cable
