New Printer Required

I need a new printer, requirements are quite specific: Colour Laserjet, Duplex, large capaciy, min 1200 x 1200dpi. Always had HP in the past.
Rather than take a gamble over the 'net - I'd like to visit somewhere where I can see the different types of printers and experience the quality before buying. Basically, a printer warehouse.
Can anyone recommend such a place?

I know where you are coming from. I see your location in the profile is Cleveland just up the road.
It could be hard finding people with several brands / models in the area - I guess. Many will specialise in one or two brands. You may get more up towards Newcastle ??
I always got on well with Samsung. However I then switched to HP with the 2605dtn and was extremely impressed with print quality. This printer was then sidelined to another office and I got a Kyocera 5200, as we can do quite a bit of printing sometimes (although still low compared to others). However the 2605 is now playing up (common problem it appears when you google it) and I need another new one, as repairs are problematic.
At the end of the day I am looking to cost of ownership and reliability. The Kyocera is listed with lower tco. However, its not as good at graphics etc as the HP was. What are your priorities ?
And again - where you buy from determines tco. Prices can easily differ by 20% between different places - printer and consumables. I see the 5200 is down a lot from six months ago. HP prices just seem to keep going north.
Try looking at online reviews maybe, then find someone who has the printer you fancy and take a look at it from there ?

No 1 priority will be the printing of a scanned pencil drawing onto high quality paper hence the requirement for 1200 x 1200 DPI. I'm hoping to only buy 1 printer that can do the above and also our normal day to day printing i.e. business letters, invoices, etc..
That said it might be more appropriate to go for a photoquality printer for the drawings and then a standard laser for day to day use.
Can I ask what the problem was with your HP2605?

Is the drawing already scanned or are you expecting the printer to do that too??
what sort of volume (pages per day) are you looking at?

Is the drawing already scanned or are you expecting the printer to do that too??
what sort of volume (pages per day) are you looking at?
Image will already be scanned so just need print capability. Don't need something as big as that - Needs to fit into a small office, too.

Not that fussed about speed, TBH. Prob looking at 1000 prints per month.
Desktop printer is the market you are in. Most of these are cartridge based (although not all I think).
I would look into some of the Xerox stuff (as was Tek).
