Hi all,

For some reason my Outlook has decided every time it starts to sync it is going to lock up my PC and force me to turn it off at the box .
I have 20+ emails to download, I can log onto the ISP (easyspace) and view them directly on the server and they are all normal small mails so nothing unusual there. I can access the net with no problems (otherwise I could not post this ) but when I hit F5 in outlook it "connects to server" and starts to download then after 30 seconds and once 2 of 20 have been downloaded (so it says they never come through) it just locks up and I am forced to turn PC of at the box as task manager will not work.

Does anyone know whats going on?

Thanks in advance for any advise.

Sam

Are you pointing Outlook at your Hotmail account in addition to your normal POP3 account?

I had a similar problem once a long while ago before I managed my own domain. I found mine always crashed when downloading the same email from my ISP. I just asked my ISP to delete the offending email and it worked fine after that.

I have seen this a couple of times where AV software was getting stuck. If you can disable your AV then do so, see if the mail client bursts into life.
This does not mean you have a virus, just something the av software is having a problem with.
