HELP! Computer crashed and not starting properly!
Discussion
I have a Dell XPS M1530 Laptop running Vista. I was just browsing and playing some online poker when a blue screen popped up with white writing. Didn't get a chance to read what it said before the laptop had started restarting. When it restarted, the MY documents folder was open, but nothing else appeared i.e. no background, no start bar, no icons! I was able to open firefox by using open with on a file and thats how I got to here?
How do I go about fixing this!
Any advice much appreciated!

It happened again when I restarted so I did as you suggested, Bonsai, and did a system restore. Thankfully AVG has been creating restore points so I was able to restore it to point at noon today! This fixed the problem. I am now running spybot search and destroy, but going to run every scan I have available to me!
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

This will not have changed anything, really - Spybot S&D does a very different job from AVG.
Something had changed between the Restore Point that you have chosen and the blue screens. This was your problem. If you do it again, whatever it was, the blue screens will return.
Any idea what it might have been?
