Mobile that's good at getting a signal

Following on from my joy-filled thread last week- and because Bodafone are vermin- I have to get another phone handset. My current iPhone 3gs has been doubly woeful at getting signal anywhere and massively prone to failure, and after 3 of them in 3 weeks I've decided that it's probably not the best phone at doing its job, rather than just a dodgy unit/ batch.

So, I'll need to get a different handset from Bodaverm- who are vermin, by the way- but need to make sure it'll work better this time.

Assuming all phones now have the Internet and email, what can I get that will also work as a phone and always have signal? Where I live the signal sucks so this is important. And I can't have a Vermafone signal booster, because they are vermin, and of course they also don't work.

Oh, and I also have big fat sausagey cripple fingers so anything with micron sized buttons is probably out too.

Oh, and it also needs to be a phone that Vodamin (who are vermin) currently sell. Any thoughts folks? I need to get this right this time partially so I can stay in business but mainly because I can't spend another minute of my life on hold to Vodahold.

Because they're vermin.

I'd appreciate any handsets you could recommend. Thanks in advance.

Ps for reference, other older handsets have worked just fine in the past, including my non S iphone. However, I'm due an upgrade so I don't want to just get another non s Iphone if it can be avoided.

nokia's have always been good for me and I'm with Orange. I tried an errickson and it was dire.

Is this a specific NervyLair issue, or a broader Nofloking signal anywhere one?

If the former, see whose phone has good reception where you are, and change to that network. Most phones cool enough for Camouflaged Learning will be much of a muchness anyway these days.

considered a blackberry? Might fall foul of your sausage fingered requirements, but mine manage fine. Actually sod that, please don't recommend him anything that has e-mail capability, or any settings whatsoever

Network is very important so stick to O2 if you can.

As for phones, Nokia and SE seem to be above average on reception.

Voda are the only provider with any signal here, plus I'm tied into a two year deal with them, annoyingly. So voda it has to be.

We've always been fine for signal on other phones, including my old iPhone, but the 3gs is very poor. So, what I need is a phone that gives good reception in relativley low- medium strength areas.

Any ideas, anyone?

I've got a Blackberry Bold 9700 which sits alongside the iphone. It's a nice piece of kit and does pretty much everything I'd ever need it to. Spanks the pants off the iphone for email, but it's nowhere near as slick and sexy to use as the iphone is. Certainly not as clunky as the windows mobile devices, just not as good as Apple. I'd sooner let janet street porter blow a tune on my skin flute than use vodafail again, but my mate, who works for one of said verminfone's shops swears by his. Mine's on O2 and I've yet to encounter a problem with it. So, maybe worth considering.

Still prefer the non 'S' iPhone though.

A lot of other devices are massively better than the Iphone when it comes to radio.

I use on a daily basis a Iphone (gadget/toy) and a Blackberry 9700 for work.

The 9700 without doubt is at least 30-50% better on the radio, regardless of network, I travel a lot and on different networks the 9700 just works hugely better. It also supports UMA although I don't know if this service is available on voda'no'phone.

The radio/battery life have always been the weakest part of the Iphone, maybe the new Iphone that's coming out will resolve these issues?

If you want a tradition Blackberry then discount the curve and go for the far better 9700 (Bold 2) if you can.

It has more powerful hardware, more features and is just an evolution on the curve devices.

I've never had a problem with the radio personally, but then I suppose it depends where you live. Round here I always struggled for a signal qith VF and Tmobile. Then again there's a couple of O2 masts in the area. Certainly looking forward to the new iPhone, I just hope it's soon as I'm already due an upgrade and I'm struggling to resist a 3GS.

Yes it is.

It's marketed as the Bold but it's not to be confused with the original Bold which is still in production and an entirely different device.

You'll also love the fact is will at least double the battery life of the Iphone too.

Just be aware these devices are very different in their design. The Iphone is a lovely gadget/fun toy where as the Bold is a work device that lets you get everything done in half the time of the Iphone but lacks the applications and ultra beautiful OS that the Iphone has.

I love my 9700 for the simple fact it's a brilliant work tool and I love the Iphone for it's fun factor.
